What did you pay for PWYW?

A long time ago, ten years actually, Reason 6 was offered as a 'Pay what you want' purchase.

Back then I had a deep admiration for Reason and Propellerheads (Reason Studios). Today I still have that deep admiration, but only for the software itself.

For the Reason 6 PWYW purchase I chose to pay the normal upgrade price of roughly $129 AUS. Such was my admiration and feeling of connection with RS.

I posed myself some questions about the Reason 6 PWYW purchase and thought I would put them to you guys too:

How much did you pay for the Reason 6 PWYW? $129 AUS.

If you could go back and re-do that transaction today, how much would you pay? $1 AUS.

Before the nay-sayers complain, yes I volunteered to pay this amount, I'm just making conversation

I had this Record-Reason Duo and I paid 10,- for reason 6. I was a poor student...
If I had the choice today, I might pay 50.-

Had to check that one, and if it was V6 then I brought full price box product it was worth it

Really wished I had brought a boxed version of suite, if I had known it would only happen once I would have instead of digital purchase direct from RS

What I don't get is why there are so many calls for a PWYW scheme round here.
Is that common? I've never seen it anywhere else.
And in a way I don't really I don't want a deal as such. I want a fair exchange. I just want the list of requests and fixes to be addressed alongside whatever innovation they can think up, and I'm happy to pay for the service.
I'm not happy to pay for a sub, 20 credits a month is wasted on me as I don't want all the RE's, but I'd love for there to ba a way of just committing to Team Propellerhead.
You know, just do your job and I'll upgrade every time, I promise!
I'm really on the fence with 12. I'ts depressing. I needed at least some of those sequencer fixes just as a sign of good faith at this point.

I paid £60. At the time it was what I could afford and I felt I should at least contribute.
Not really sure what I'd pay if Reason 12 went PWYW. Considering how much of an impact it won't have on my workflow I don't know if I'd feel quiet as charitable this time.

I bought the Pianos, Bass and Alt. Drums Refills and had Reason + Record as well. I was all in with Reason at the time. I still want to be but I need midi hardware to be able to control VST parameters. If not, I have to use Studio One as it’s easy peasy but……….I have much more fun in Reason.

Thanks guys sorry to dump and run I'm adjusting to a new all consuming job. Very interesting that so many went out of their way to pay a decent amount when it wasn't required, and nice to see some shared my sentiment too, cheers.

As I had bought Record back then I only gave them 10€ for R6 but also bought the Disco School Refill at the same time to give them some more money.

Zero, but I got back into Reason at 6.5 and paid the full $129.00 for the upgrade
