How to create ambient music

I followed the tutorial from Reasontalk to set up a generative patch using Thor, RPG-8 and Matrix, but I want to add some more variation and modulation to the sound. How can I use other devices like Alligator, Pulveriser or Synchronous to enhance the ambient texture and create more movement and depth? What are some tips and tricks for creating interesting and evolving ambient sounds with Reason?
1. I like to edit parameters with "Edit automation" and create additional modulation tracks for various parameters.
