Announcing Reason 13

Just wanted to share some concerns I have about the new floating browser feature.
While the additional functionalities are definitely welcome, I'm worried that it might compromise the interactivity with the rack. Working in Reason has always been a joy, even with its less modern features compared to the competition.
I believe a big part of that enjoyment comes from its stackable windows environment, which makes navigating the rack quick and convenient. There's a natural flow to it. Dragging and dropping couldn't be easier, and all your favorite lists and folders are right there, easily accessible. The idea of having to open another window just to see/access them sounds crazy to me. I really don't get it.
I'm reserving judgment until I see it in action, but at first glance, it seems cumbersome and potentially more of a downgrade. I'm really hoping there's a way to maintain the current efficiency of working in the rack by keeping that browser stacked to the side. If not, I'll definitely hold off on upgrading to 13. It's just not feasible for me to work in a way that disrupts my workflow so drastically.
Fingers crossed, because the rest of the upgrades looks and sounds good.

Someone said dark mixer to go with the dark sequencer and rack.Mataya wrote: ↑02 May 2024Should we just mindlessly clap our hands? I've been paying for every update and will continue (probably), but expressing what you hope for also and putting a little pressure like that should be positive and not negative.
To be honest, all those new devices seem like they have a third party Re counterpart. At least, I'm pretty sure I have similar devices in my arsenal. So, not very excited. Browser, tags...don't give a s*** about it. Will see about seq improvements. Dark reason? Isn't there a dark version already?
So yeah, not very excited about 13, but I've found a way to get excited beyond Reason.

I've never seen the color of a track change based on the window in which you view it, can you post an example?Last Alternative wrote: ↑02 May 2024Thank you RS!
My only question is did you fix colors & order of tracks to match every window? I never understood why you make a track blue in one window but it’s some random color in a different window and why the order of tracks you make in one window is different in the others.
The order of the track is the same in every window, until you change it. I've requested an option to force all views to stay in sync with the device order, but for now the oddly named "Sort Selected Device Groups" command does the job after the fact.

Is there a comprehensive list of what instruments, effects, ect are included in 13 yet?
If they are disappointed with 13, it can be turned into an 18 pretty easily. And if 18 is disappointing, then I guess Reason 48?Neo wrote: ↑02 May 2024Sweet! Lucky 13
..and kudos the user who got excited enough to get tattooed

ok thanks!
I meant, not just Ripley but complete reason 13, will it be available without subscription, but I think your answer is confirming this too.
I can't be the only one asking about this, subscription based software is a hot topic
I'm very excited about 13! Now it said I already applied for the beta and it wont allow me , but I beta tested 12 do I still have access to the beta somewhere?

I see the new browser includes favorite lists, but as far as I can see, the devices are not in the browser. Does this mean we can no longer make favorite lists of devices? I have favorite lists for specific device categories, which are essential for my workflow (and other users here on the forum have shown to be using something similar).
Another question: can we tag our own sounds/patches?

Well consider this... Record came out and i was on the beta teaters crying for auto punch in. I think I've asked for it for every single reason version since record 1.5 and v6. I don't know, maybe it isn't very asked but as an instrumentist I don't get how auto punch in is not asked enough to be implemented.
And markers, track folders, a true freese function, a non consolidated project format... Yeah...

Subtractor 2 exists and it is beautiful.
Polytone looks like a return to Reason's roots, in the best possible way. Looking forward to playing with it!

Awesome, finally some workflow improvements!
But, do you think there is hope for linked clips finally?
In terms of workflow, this has always been my biggest creative brake.
For example: Edit the first clip, delete the following 3 clips and then the following 4 clips after a gap, then copy the first clip, paste 3 times, and then paste again 4 times after the gap.
I'm getting tired of this.

Congrats on the upcoming release!
For me, personally, there's nothing here that makes me want to upgrade or use Reason as an actual DAW again. Bitwig's got me covered there, but it would be nice if the RRP got some updates (more ins/outs, 2x width, etc...)..

Guys… guys… it’s a DAW focused upgrade. Nothing specific to RRP or R+
I’m looking forward to the edit window now being its own thing with the tool window functionality built in. Much smoother workflow that what it is now.
And finally the finished browser with tags. I’ve gotten spoiled by Arturia and Native Instruments browsers

Reason Studios does some weird things sometimes and they do not do necessaryindustry-standard things a lot of times but I imagine that this floating browser thing is just a misunderstanding. I bet they know that one of their biggest strength is that every UI element has its place. Like in Ableton Live: every element is neatly laid out on one single screen layer. No windows on top of windows on top of windows .. No constant window juggling like in some other DAW. They will never endanger that strength. I mean why would they, right?

I think my free Reason+ sub is still going past release date, so will give it a shot.
To be frank though, from my view, it's a little bit too little late, but congrats on getting something done at least.
Reaktor and Omnisphere has more features than Reason, lol

Was just fighting with the editing modes and I won't miss that!

Markers seems like very low hanging fruit, not sure why they've not been added?
