Hi to all
New to the forum and I'm looking for some help.
Very recently upgraded to Reason 12. I have Ozone 9 advanced. Once the Ozone plugins are opened within R12, R12 becomes sluggish as do the plugins which operate slowly or become unresponsive - no error messages. Non-iZotope plugins work fine within Reason 12 and the CPU/Memory on the laptop are fine. The buffer size is at max, no other apps are open – the task manager shows low processor usage, and the DSP workload graphic does not even register one bar, so Reason 12 is not displaying any issue with load. I have tried other Ozone 9 component plugins, and the waveforms and other artifacts are missing from the component. I can move faders around in some of the Ozone 9 components and it does affect the sound, but the visual artifacts are missing.
In addition, I run Reason 11 on the same laptop with Ozone 9 Adv and it works fine.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Are there Reason users out there using Reason 12 with Ozone 9 advanced – surely there must be….?!

I do have a support call open with iZotope but presently they stating compatibility issues with R12 and Ozone 9.

Thanking you all in advance
Mark

Are you on the latest stable channel release of Reason 12? If so, there are new CPU settings in Reason's Preferences that you might try adjusting the core threads that you let Reason access. Ozone 9 supports multicore/threads as far as I know, and that might be an issue. Also, make sure your graphics drivers are updated to the latest. I've got Ozone 9 Advanced, but almost always run it in standalone. I'll fire it up when I get home later as a plugin in Reason 12 and see what happens on my system (which is pretty old, all things considered).

What is your laptop CPU (model and clock speed)? Does your laptop have a seperate GPU? Reason 12 uses GPU to accelerate graphics, whereas Reason 11 does not. Also, under Ozone 9 preferences - general - do you have "enable module meters" checked under graphics?

I have never had any problems with Ozone 9 plugins running inside Reason 12. I use them in every session.

Wow, had not noticed this, what did you wake me up for, I was happy until you pointed this out ? Now I have to worry.

Seriously though...
In my case almost nothing works in Ozone 9 (in Reason 12) but then I have an OLD laptop processor. Drivers are up-to-date but OLD.
As it happens I still have Ozone 6 and 8 on my system and both work OK in Reason 12. Also Ozone 9 stand alone works OK as far as I can tell.

Other observations...
The component plugins (eg just the equaliser) behave the same way as the multi plugin.
Less cores does nothing different (until I get to 2 cores then it hangs Reason).
Ozone 9 works OK in StudioOne 4 and Reaper

So I think it is proven it is an Ozone 9 + Reason problem, as you said.
Thanks for reporting this here.

Which version of Ozone 9 are you all on? The latest is 9.12.2 and has a ton of bug fixes, including locking up..

Hi all
I appreciate your feedback and advice and I implemented a fix but its only temporary. I downloaded and installed the “Intel® Graphics Driver 31.0.101.3430/31.0.101.2111”. R12 was running while this operation was taken place and once the Intel drivers had completed the installation, it worked! – no more stuttering of Ozone 9 or slowdown. BUT once R12 was shutdown and restarted, the issue reared its ugly head again – very strange. Basically, if Reason is open and the driver is updated it works while R12 remains open, but if you then reboot the laptop, or close and reopen R12 the problem comes back. R12 is v12.2.9d40, Ozone 9.12.1b2311 dxdiag output below and edited:

R12 is v12.2.9d40, Ozone 9.12.1 b2311
Two things:

1. According to your post above, that's not the latest version of Ozone 9. The latest version is 9.12.2 (which is build 2486). It does have some bug fixes, so maybe update and see if that helps?

2. Sounds like you have an issue with your drivers, which is weird. Are you sure they're the right drivers? Did you install all of the other chipset drivers for your laptop? Not sure why Reason keeps seeing them as "uninstalled" whenever you reboot. I'd recommend you reach out to Reason Studios support and file a formal support request. * EDIT - wait a minute, you have 2 video cards on your laptop? Both an nVidia as well as built-in Intel HD?? That might be part of your problem... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks Enochlight for your suggestions, and yes the laptop is a hybrid - it has touchscreen functionality.

I now have a permanent resolution which is fine for a few audio tracks within a song – I can forget using Ozone within a large song with multiple audio tracks in R12 - the DSP goes wild. I’ve modified the Nvidia control panel -> 3D settings ->Adjust image settings with preview option. The primary preference was changed from Quality to Performance. I have also just upgraded Ozone to 9.12.2. Thanks again to everyone who responded. It's fairly clear to me that the laptop is now showing its age, and a hardware upgrade is required once funds are available :(

Success !
Switched off auto-scale (Window\Manage Plugins, select plugin and switch off Auto-scale) and reloaded the plugin and it kicks into life.
Repeated to prove it was not a fluke.
Possibly an update in graphics drivers would also make it work but my drivers are locked by HP. Without a botch I'm stuck with what I've got.

Anyway, fixed. Very glad you sent me debugging this, thanks again.
