Random – New AI based VST Synth

Another approach to using AI and neural networks to generate sounds. I feel we’re just scratching the surface still, so I see this (and SynPlant) as hints of what is to come rather than the ultimate realization of the tech. More like an S900 than Kontakt to use sampling technology as a comparison.

I don’t think this is as fleshed out as SynPlant, but has a cool looking interface and does make some interesting sounds. The limits I see at a glance are no access to the internal synth engine and no way to use an audio signal as a starting point. This means even simple things like adjusting for a longer release time are apparently not possible with Random, and a lot of presses on the randomize button to explore options to any degree.
I’m not sure Random is polyphonic either, all the demos play monophonic and it’s not specifically stated anywhere I could find.

I'd play with it if it were in front of me.

Might be nice for "drums" and "bass" and scary risers and cinematic rumbles.

But I couldn't make heads or tails of the marketing of the tech under the covers.
