https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/pump/

From the new developer sonicbits.io a new pump/sidechain tool.

Shop description:

The fastest way to get your track pumping or to add some subtle ducking. Can also be used as a rhythmical gate on your pads, strings or leads.

Pump is made specifically for getting the sidechain effect used in much of todays music. Our intention was to make this process as simple and straight forward as possible, but still add a bit of flexibility.

Nice to see a new developer on board.
This could be useful for some tracks.

...which is a budget version of VolumeShaper created for Nicky Romero.

Kickstart will only do ducking. Pump will also modulate any parameter through CV. You could as well use it as a rhythmic envelope controlling a filter cutoff or stereo width or distortion amount or...

I don't make pumpy dance music, but I am downloading it to see what other weirdness I might be able to squeeze out of it.

Extremely nice interface design, by the way. Very, very appealing.

Is this RE basically a compressor that has settings/presets for pumping? Outside of using the transport mode, how much "easier" would it be to use, as I would use it more so using the note trigger option, like ducking a bass line with a kick drum trigger. If so would I still have to route it pretty much exactly as a side chain with splitters, etc., whereas I am pretty much just replacing [whichever compressor] with this RE?

This is not a compressor.. its something to automate volume based on a preset curve. It doesn't need keying like a compressor so it is just a case of slapping this into the signal chain, dial in what kind of ducking you want, choose how you trigger it and you're done.

Send mode is Pretty darn convenient !! Ofcourse If it wasn't there it could've been easily build with a combinator BUT... just being able to hang this on one of your sends, makes it available for any channel by just opening up the aux send for that channel.

IMO much more versatile then Nicky Romero's kickstart.

SUGGESTION:
It would be nice to have a cv in for our own envelope Generator like CV-Mutant or Charlotte. We could use these Eg's in Combinator for note trigger effects.

How does send mode work? I dont quite get how volume shaping can be done this way.

A Mixer plus env generator at volume and you are done.

I slapped this device into one of my noise fests, plugged random CV cables into it, twiddled knobs randomly, and ... I don't know what ... but it's doing something! :)

Amazing how versatile these "do one thing well" devices can be. I'm not into EDM but will definitely be buying this

Connect it in a send channel and turn the send button on and adjust the level to taste. It works by phase inverting the sound which cancels the sound.

Pity there's no demo video on there :-(

S'pose I could trial the Re.

If it sounds as good as it looks then I'm looking forward to seeing what other Re's this new company bring us in the future.

Just had a go. Its actually a damn cool device - It saves you making ghost kick channels and setting up a sidechain with the SSL or your choice compressor. I'm not sure I'll end up putting it in my sends. I think for me, it'd be more used as an insert on bass and or pads. I found you can get some nice movement between a bass and pad when clagging this in as an insert with slightly differing automated settings. On a creative level this is saves a lot of time. So I bought it.
