I'm sure I'm just being naive here but where are the new samplers? Or devices with sample loading implemented? Perhaps its too soon but we've had the new SDK release for a while now and...not much.

Am I the only one thinking this? The only one waiting for some new samplers in reason? Yes a few came out but they don't really suit my style. Surly there must be some more on the way, right?

Well the new SDK was released on January 25. So almost two months ago.
Not only did most developers not get their hands on it until then, many didn't even learn about it until then.

You also have to factor in current projects and obligations developers were already working on, time spent brainstorming ideas using the new SDK and proper execution of something using the new SDK, building it, alpha stage, beta stage, etc. It's rare I've ever partaken in a beta testing that was even under two months long.

So, it's still early yet. I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty in the coming months :)

Also consider that a 'simple' sampler won't make much sense, so add some development time into the usual equation…

Yep, that's kind of what I figured.
Still, I didn't know whether dev's got the SDK prior to release or what have you.

As for simple samplers... I see your point. Too bad in a way. I'd love a simple sampler that allowed full automation of the sample start knob, things like that. But as you say, I guess folks will want them embedded in a more complex machine.

Anyway, thanks for confirming my assumptions.

I'd love to see Akai make an MPC Rack Extension. Definitely won't happen, but it'd be cool nonetheless. But a "Sample Thor" with a nice mod matrix, onboard effects, modulatable play directions pitching and start and stop points, and lots of CV routability would be awesome! :)
