Issues with the PX7 conversion webpage

Hi guys!

I'm scratching my head here... I've got lots of sysex banks for DX7 but it seems like whatever I try "PX7-ifying" through https://www.propellerheads.com/dx7-px7-converter/ doesn't work. I get "Couldn't convert patch: "ROM2B.SYX". Please make sure your .syx files are valid Yamaha DX7 patches.

I'm pretty sure they are... tried with Firefox and Safari on a Mac running 10.7.5

I've never had an issue.

Is it possible the bank is larger than 32? I'm not sure if that would create an issue.

No the bank I mentioned above is one of the original 32 patch DX7 rom banks, but I'll try with a newer mac here now.

Very cumbersome, doesn't work here either (Safari 11.1.2 and OS X Sierra). Can you guys please try to see if it works for you today?

Hey Bitley,

I am having the same issue... I've never had this issue before!

It's not working on my Mac (latest Mojave version) using Safari or Chrome.

Running a VM (Parallels, Windows 10) and using Chrome it is also not working.

Running a VM (Parallels, Ubuntu) using Firefox is not working.

Running a real Windows 7 machine and Firefox is not working.

Either all the patches I am trying are not legit or there is something wrong.

:)

An enormous job you did, most impressive!

Yeah sounds like maybe someone should raise this to Propellerhead. I can't test right now, but sounds like it could very well be an issue with the converter itself.

Dropped them an email :)

Pheads support replied promptly; they didn't know of issues now but recognised that it has had problems before. I hope it means they reboot the DX7 hooked up to the ZX81 in the corner so it can start counting again. ;)

Thanks Bitley... Glad to see Props are on it!

I realized I hadn't checked any Microsoft browsers... Internet Explorer and Edge don't work either.

That would be a shame. I think all existing patches are converted by now, but I use it occasionally to convert a "cartridge that doesn't exist".

Many new DX7 banks are made actually as a new swedish AI project is programming DX7 sysex.

I tried their last round of patches successfully with PX7 as the converter page worked then, like three weeks ago.

Ooh, that sounds very nice. Great track by the way

Where are those patches available?

Oh thanks! :-) The project is here https://theintrovert.net/2023/05/07/dee ... s-with-ai/ (presentation) and here https://theintrovert.net/2023/05/13/dee ... he-sounds/ (sounds) - I couldn't even make Dexed run on this particular computer so I really need the PX7 conversion page... :geek:

Just in case the converter won't return, I'm already looking what's needed to write a converter myself :puf_wink:

Oh I was just using the PX7 converter few days ago and now it's gone :( Why not just leave it up for the users, Props?

It's (back) online. Just tried converting a few patches without facing any flaws.
