Maybe there was no Knob in the stock with enough range.

You can go beyond with CV and the Mod Matrix.

Some times a company starts idealistic. Than they grow and need to save money for whatever reason and use cheaper parts...

I just was wondering about the octave range when i made a 909 kick drum. It's like they think we do know what to do with a high number of octaves...

Ah, funny.. never noticed that about Grain

Curious for what purposes do you need the higher octaves?
For drums/percussive elements I just use the mod/cv like Loque mentioned.

I knew it! So you are secretly working on music for dogs and other animals that can actually hear those frequencies!
Congrats, that is a very good blue ocean strategy

Not sure about Grain, but both Monotone and Europa have a range of about 13 octaves. There may be only 5 switch settings on the panel, but that doesn't limit the range of the oscillators. You have to transpose your keyboard or the notes in the sequencer to access the full range.

As huggermugger says above, the funny thing with Europa, Grain and Sweeper is that the knobs may be limited to a particular range, however using the mod matrix or CV you can extend the range of the parameter well beyond the knob limits e.g Pitch, Filter Freq etc.

BTW, fun fact, Monotone exhibits significant aliasing compared to Europa. I'm playing a C9 in all four tests, roughly 16.8 KHz.

I like the aliasing, it's like having another type of distortion.

Is the filter bypassed on Europa? I'm guessing the Monotone's filter drive is what is causing the aliasing.

edit: Did my own experiment, and you can get the Europa to alias by turning the filter on, but you've got to turn the filter drive up pretty high.

I've tried the cv/mod trick, with no luck. : (

What am I doing wrong?
