I tried searching Google and there is just a bunch of crap to sort thru (mostly lists different tape saturation VSTs). So I figured I would post here. Does anybody know where I can get a bunch of samples of just noisy tape sounds? I want to try mixing them into a track and see what the outcome is like. Thanks
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Having artifacts like that would imply having some signal. If theres no signal theres few "tape sounds" apart from hiss/noise, contrary to say vinyl.

I think hiss and noise is what he's after. Here's 6 hours (!) of it:

The text isn't very clear on the AD conversion, but from what I gather, they just sampled it and cranked up the volume. IIRC, the audio bitrate in YouTube is linked to the video bitrate, so you should have the least aliasing by choosing 720p.

Actually, Crapre 2 has this really cool type of noise.

As an RE, Crapre 2 is quite a good option. The noise it creates to mix to a signal at low volume was my favorite part.

This was my first find using Google and tape noise - https://www.freesound.org/people/Boilin ... nds/49005/

It's rather static though. Thor's Noise OSC, some EQ or ART will get you there too.

Not sure if there's tape, but one of my favorite resource for free noises/field recordings - https://soundcloud.com/365daysofsound
