I've been messing around with the new Beat Map player quite a bit lately, and I've been getting really into trying to sequence as much as possible using a combination of devices in the rack rather than using the sequencer. This morning I decided to lean a bit more heavily toward some late 90s/early 00s IDM-type of sounds, and this popped out.
The whole thing is sequenced directly from the rack (outside of automation) using a combination of Beat Map and Quad players. The drum hits are a combination of ReSpire and Thor hits, with a couple of FSB samples used as an 808 snare layer and some claps. The acid line is a simple ReSpire patch controlled by a Quad, and there are a couple of Reaktor ensembles in there providing some additional glitchy percussion.
It made a nice change to use the sequencer as more of an "intensity control" via automation while leaving the main composition to a series of players. I imagine it's probably not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I had a lot of fun writing it and it's always nice to try something different for a change I reckon it'd be fun to try writing something semi-generative from scratch like this during a stream... but that's a thought for another time, methinks!
I'd love to know what you make of it! Cheers

Thanks! That sound is based on a Europa patch from Europa Relay (the patch name is KY Wash - I'll attach it to this message) fed through a lot of reverb courtesy of a DR-1, a bit of delay courtesy of Valhalla Delay, an instance of AF-4 for some additional drive & filtering and finally an instance of Pump for the pumping sound. The synth itself is triggered via an instance of Quad fed through another instance of Scales & Chords.

Cool tune. Beatmap is pretty fun. I'm getting into it myself.

Crap! Sounds really awesome! Now I'm going to have to upgrade to 11 to get the Beat mapper.

Haha yeah, I've been getting plenty of use out of it since it was released - great for getting rhythmic ideas going quickly, I'm mostly using it more as a springboard for ideas but the semi-generative potential is really solid!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Cheers
