Kuassa amps NOT for guitar - yes or no?

Kuassa's running currently an increadible sale with all of 5 their amps for EUR109:

I don't do guitar music, but electronic stuff with heavy bass, acid lines, piercing leads, punchy drums. Does it make sense to get the bundle - or individual amps - for that? I really like using Softube's amps in native Reason for some of those elements, so I guess they'd be equally effective, right?

I'm gonna demo them this weekend, but looking for 2nd hand opinions, too

I've used the Creme amp from Kuassa quite a bit. Same here, I've used it on synths only. If you're looking for a metal sound, Creme is awesome imo.
Personally I can't stand the Softube amp. So maybe we have different tastes.
Let me know if want to hear some tracks where I've used Creme on synths.

I try to not judge FX if they make sense or not. I rarely use them 'consciously' ("I need sound X, I go to effect Y"), i.e. I'll just browse through presets and if I find something interesting I tweak it to taste and that's it

To be honest, I'm 99% convinced. I'm just hoping someone comes here and says they shouldn't be used on anything that doesn't resemble a guitar, that I'll burn in hell spending money on them and using them "wrong"

Here are couple of songs where I've used Creme on synths.
Nightmare 1: On all the metal "guitar riffing". Think the synth was FM4.
Reload: On riffs and leads. In combination with different synths: Snakebite, Red70, Antidote. Honestly you can put Creme on anything and it will sound very metal and "guitary".
Wild och Crazy: On leads/solos: At =0:19 and 2:09





I love my Creme. No regrets buying it at all.

I subscribe to the theory that EVERYTHING is for guitar (or at least it can be). Even the wah-wah pedal, which is one of the most iconic "guitar" effects there is, was taken and repurposed from a filter for an organ. So..... yeah, I would say the Kuassa amps are most definitely for guitars (and synths, and any instrument in the rack, really).

So the other side of that, and more to the point of your OP, is that guitar gear can be repurposed for other instruments. I regularly throw "guitar" effects on the other instruments in the rack. If you like the way the Softube amps sound on synths, you will probably love Kuassa; they are amazing amps and all sound incredible. I really hope he gets the Vox amp done soon. Anyway, don't limit yourself. Experiment. If it sounds good... go with it!

When you stated (jokingly) about not wanting to use them "wrong" or suffer eternal damnation in hell... I don't think there is a wrong way to use anything in Reason; that's one beautiful thing about this virtual rack, you can't fry anything, blow any fuses or start any fires.


By the way, your poll question is very confusing. It states a negative (NOT for guitar), so the answers could go either way (yes could mean "yes, that is correct, they are not for guitars" or "no, I disagree, they are for guitars"). SO I didn't post an answer to the poll.

I have Matchlock and it's a really good Fender amp sim and I love it on guitar (night and day difference from those Softube amps) but I never really liked it on anything else that I've run through it, and I do believe in trying everything through everything. Maybe it could work a bit sometimes, for a stray pluck out of Parsec or something like that, or 'boxing up' an electric piano sound, but I don't see it becoming an essential ingredient of many synth tones, or those uses being worth a huge amount of money. For guitar duties it certainly earns its keep. Can't say anything about the other amps they've modelled, but just to give a different take.

FabFilter Saturn 2 is great on synths, and a totally different thing, and not a rack extension - but for what you describe up top, it's what I'd reach for.

Actually that's what I ended up doing - I've upgraded my Saturn v1 to v2 for 45EUR or something.
