Re: Opinions on Bitwig
I've got a licence for Reason, Renoise, Reaper and Bitwig. I got more done in Reason, get distracted by Renoise, can't stand Reaper and find Bitwig too fussy. Some of the UI elements are TINY and my older eyes can't take it. If Reason had a native tracker view as opposed to piano roll I'd be extreme...

Re: High RAM usage since last update?
I wonder if they're silo-ing the whole VST binary into RAM for the sake of performance/compatibility with the rack. If the VST needs to have all of its code exposed for APIs to work when wiring in and out of the VST in the rack. Just a thought, and a terribly uninformed one at that.

Re: Combinator-ed Redrum MIDI question
I meant to come back and update that clicking the pentagon in the upper left resolved the issue - many thanks, both.

Re: Combinator-ed Redrum MIDI question
I have that already. Sorry I might not be making sense. When in Drum Edit I'm seeing 128 note lanes, instead of 10 when the Redrum is not combined. Can I collapse to only the 10 note lanes somehow? Ahh, I get it. I assumed you were still using the ReDrum lane even with the ReDrum in the Combinator....

Re: Combinator-ed Redrum MIDI question
Thanks, I got to drum edit - the problems was that all 128 midi notes were shown when Redrum was inside a combinator. As opposed to when it is uncombined, the piano roll view only shows 10 notes Total. Can I only show the 10 notes when combinatorised (lol) instead of all of them? Yes. I explained i...

Re: Combinator-ed Redrum MIDI question
There are three ‘view modes’ for any track. You change the view in Edit Mode with a fairly tiny button on the right side of the edit screen just below the zoom buttons. You will see three options: Key Edit, Drum Edit, and REX Edit. Despited what data is in the track the view can be freely changed o...

Combinator-ed Redrum MIDI question
Sorry for the title, unsure how else to word it. If the Redrum is not in a combinator and I create a MIDI clip in drum edit mode, the view is compact to the ten Redrum slots. When in a Combinator, the full MIDI range is shown in drum edit mode. Is there a setting I can alter to keep the MIDI notes a...

Re: [TECH HOUSE] All or nothing
It's a good track, composition wise and in terms of sound design. My only initial thought is that the kick is really weak and is drowning behind the bass. A different sample, or synthesised drum, with a more noticeable transient click and sidechaining the lower elements of the synths would help it a...

Re: Do you use a default template? What sort of things to do put into yours?
I've got a minimal template going. A Mimic with pre-wired mix channels set up for each of it's 8 slots for my drums, as I basically always use drums. I removed the standard sends and replaced with a main reverb and main delay- in combinators so I can send the delay to the reverb to glue sounds toget...

Re: Precise LFO speed automation?
Easily done in a Combinator in the way you mentioned. In this example, CONTROL 1 sweeps the LFO1 RATE of Pulsar, from 0.21 Hz to 3.95 Hz (TEMPO SYNC is OFF). You can also have TEMPO SYNC turned on if you like, but the rate changes will jump from one beat subdivision to the next, rather than being s...

Precise LFO speed automation?
Hello, If I use a synth and want to change the LFO speed over the course of a phrase - how can I precisely automate the following: - LFO speed: - LFO phase reset? I'd like to play a sustained note but automate fairly precise LFO speeds for some timbral variance, on filter cutoff for example? Can I r...

Re: Newbie question
I ended up using Mimic wired into 8 mix channels in the end, I'm enjoying that there are a lot of per sample controls when using multi-slot mode.

Re: (Deep House) Black Aeonium
Giving it a label isn't strictly needed, but neither the drums nor the synths are deep house - in my humble opinion giving it the wrong label is worse than deciding to give it no label at all.

I can, just about, respect the devotion to this trolling effort. Don't let yourself believe your own hype though, these "MIDI covers" are not good.

Re: (Deep House) Black Aeonium
It's a good piece of music, but labelling it as deep house is very inaccurate. It's a shame, as people who are into this sort of music might not click to listen thinking it's going to be house music.

Re: Newbie question
Thanks everybody, I will go with the setting up a template option - its not a big deal, would have been a handy thing to drag and drop but it's far from a deal breaker. After using Renoise, the massive SSL Mixer is pure luxury - as is being able to quickly parellelise tracks etc.
Thanks again all!

Newbie question
Recently bought Reason 12 on sale, I really enjoy using it compared to the DAW which I was using prior. I'm navigating the DAW quite well IMO but had a couple of general questions I can't seem to find an answer for. For now I want to be able to create a drum machine and route it's outputs to individ...
