Remember 'Dave' from Boyinaband?
I still follow him. He was one of the main reasons that I actually picked up Reason in the first place. Shame he doesn't use it any more. I know he went on to Reaper, but not sure what exactly he's using these days.

Modifying Playback?
I suppose if you use a device to generate the CV, that might work. But where are you going to record the audio? It'll have to be in another program. Reason will always put the audio under the play head, so a jump in play position will simply be a jump in record position. In the end you'll have the s...

Save $30 on Reason 8 Upgrade
I just happened to look to see if there anyone was selling the Reason 8 Upgrade for less than list price. I found both Amazon and B&H Photo have the boxed upgrade for $99. The B&H one is limited until tomorrow, and Amazon appears to have limited stock. So if you were on the fence, and $30 is enough ...

Q's: Registering as Developer
Exactly my confusion. Just as the lack of creative commons made people step back from Discover, the business registration and liability aspects of being a developer that have very real economic impacts on the individuals who sign up makes me step back from registering. This is true for any business...

Do you think sales of RE's are down after the forum closure?
I don't get how anyone thinks the Props are less engaged with their users after the closing of the PUF. Just about the only time I'd see them interacting on the old board was to lock a thread that had gotten out of control. They post here just as frequently, but at least these posts are useful. Sinc...

Q's: Registering as Developer
2) In any event, once I begin development is it necessary or best practice to have a dedicated computer for code testing purposes? In years past, testing executable code in IDEs would introduce system instability and undesired behavior that was not present prior to the beginning of programming. Gra...

Kontakt Player libraries can be converted to IDT REs. That was one of the targets of the IDT format, was to get Kontakt publishers on board. That said, I don't know if a library this complex would be an easy conversion.neoverse wrote:this is where it becomes maddening that kontakt is not a re yet:

I'd say that nearly everyone is not having issues. You only see the few that have trouble complaining. Happy users simply go on with their day and don't speak up.iammane wrote:Are there people NOT having any issues?

Dose anyone know why Reason affects Youtube and other audio on my computer?
I will agree that ASIO is likely the problem, but it's not universally true that using ASIO disables the rest of Windows sounds. With my Focusrite I can even record other Windows sounds while running Reason with the ASIO driver. It just depends on how the audio interface maker wrote their drivers.

Carve is in the Shop
Ok, just did some tests. It only happens when I quit out of Reason and then log back in. It doesn't happen if I close a project and then reopen it without quitting Reason. I tried routing Thru on the second carve (in series) straight into the mixer (bypassing combinator) and I still get the error. ...

No idea of the timeframe or anything, but it looks like it's a pretty early GUI. I've still not done any graphic design for the panel, but all the voice controls are in place now. So it looks more like this: http://scuzzyeye.com/code/Esquire-180/Esquire-180_Automation.png I'm not sure of the time...

I remember him talking about that when he was discussing his ill-fated chiptune RE. Yeah, I had planned a few chip REs, each targeting a different chip. Since Ochen did such a good job delivering several chips in one device, I've put those on the back burner. But the work wasn't wasted. I learned a...

Here is my question now, IF i optical out from a Focusrite 18i20 into the computer and out from the PC to a Beringer ultra-curve with word-clock strung between the 18i20 and Ultra-curve. what problems does anyone see with this? If i am correct the DAW should regulate sync on its own, and the A/D D/...

I'm not sure if both of you are on the same page. When Normen says "audio" I'm assuming he means analog audio. That's the only place jitter matters: moving to or from the analog domain. If you're doing digital to digital transfers, and the actual sample rate is known, and no bits are lost, then jitt...

Question:Can REASON used a DSP audio card ?
Going to an external USB interface will almost surely solve your noise problem. Plus, good ones, which you can get starting at about $100-$150, will include ASIO drivers. That'll hopefully free up some CPU time to make more DSP available for Reason.

Question:Can REASON used a DSP audio card ?
It's possible if the drivers for the audio interface you're using are really poor, there will be a CPU overhead just generating sound. So yeah, changing to an interface that doesn't require an unusual amount of CPU just to play audio will seem like you're gaining DSP resources, but in fact you're ju...

"The Ghost in the MP3"... what remains after compression
So, I don't know if inverting polarity all by itself will generate quite the same haunting result as in the video. But it does seem to be an interesting way to generate strikingly odd sounds. When you invert a signal and combine it with the original, the formula looks like, this: n + (-1 * n). It's...

Cheap (and maybe good?) Sub for You Bass Freaks
Honestly, I am not sure as to why this reflection-free zone is so important, except maybe that reflections might interfere with the accurate monitoring of reverb and/or delay. If you have speakers that are close to a wall, and you are very close to those speakers, the reflections off the wall behin...

Cheap (and maybe good?) Sub for You Bass Freaks
I wonder if some folks are misled by the label "subwoofer." A typical subwoofer does not reproduce inaudible, "to be felt" tones. In fact most, including this one, employ a high-pass filter to remove subsonic material. Subwoofer was a bad name to start out with. Subsonic, means traveling slower tha...

Question:Can REASON used a DSP audio card ?
I'd really like to see people who make claims about being able to tell the difference between two audio samples, conduct a proper double blind test. It's so easy for the mind to tell you you're hearing something when you're not. There are tons of stores about mix engineers (people who have well trai...

Becoming a potential RE developer
So REs can only be loaded from PH shop, right? That sucks. From my point of view as a beta tester, which I was before I signed the NDA: When a developer would make a new build, he could issue a new beta license to me, that would last 30 days. Some beta testing took longer than 30 days, but each new...
