Sequencer Art - Designing An Album Cover In Reason
Hi, thought you might be interested in some early album cover concepts intended for a future release of mine. I wanted something to illustrate its themes of AI/sentience/etc. (album title is Sentient Life ). It has quite pronounced elements of Synthwave. I thought Reason's sequencer would make an in...

Buying a new laptop - i5-8250u or i7-7500u?
I have some cash to spend on a laptop and wondering which of the aforementioned will drive Reason 10 better? I'm not the best informed, so any advice is welcome

Re: Waves Central Installer crashing computer
Thanks for your reply. After executing a few more hardware diagnostic checks today, I've come to the realisation that my CPU is overheating - Windows log and Speedfan confirmed this as a thermal (kernel 86) issue. Internal fan is clean also (I use an additional external fan). Reason and various othe...

Re: Waves Central Installer crashing computer
+ I did a clean install of Win 7 and even upgraded to Win 10 (was going to eventually) thinking that would somehow solve the issue. All my drivers are up-to-date

Waves Central Installer crashing computer
Hi, Anyone encountering a computer crash trying to install/activate plugs via Waves Central? I've tried numerous times uninstalling/installing the app, and following all the troubleshooting options on their website (deleting folders/disabling anti-vrus and firewalls/deleting all waveshells/installin...

Re: External SSD for running Reason?
Sounds good, let me work with you lol. By no means am I trying to discourage anyone. I'm a system builder and work in IT. What kind of tracks do you work with most? Audio/samplers or software synths? Do you use lots of effects? SSD is not going to drastically help with either tbh but it may help wi...

Re: External SSD for running Reason?
Seriously, limitations are probably why I actually seem to finish things these days, and not tweak like a madman to all hours (like I used to). My old drive rattles from years of abuse and now induces bouts of paranoia (thus, I backup regularly). Time for change. If I get some improvement in perform...

Re: External SSD for running Reason?
Cheers mate, I've just read that and will probably go for the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB internal SSD (within my price and I don't need a huge amount of storage) You should really look into over provisioning; it essentially suggests you allocate like 40% of your overall drive space to over provisioning....

Re: External SSD for running Reason?
I'm guessing it's either SATA 1 (1.5g/s), SATA 2 (3g/s) as it was manu. 2010. Is there a way I can check that on Win7? If I buy a SATA 3, I'm guessing it would be backwards compatible but bottle-necked(?) Cheers It doesn't matter. Regardless of the bus, the performance gain will be amazing compared...

Re: External SSD for running Reason?
Check your throughput on the 1st, 2nd drive. If your unlucky it's 3G/s vs a 6G/s, and unchangeable. This is the case for any thing earlier than 2011 (2nd) for sure ( cut off year for 6G/s standard - MBP, anyway) If it's 3, then you're better of upgrading the laptop for speed there is important. 6 v...

Re: External SSD for running Reason?
OP, what are the specs of your laptop? I highly recommend SSD’s for music production. My MacBook Pro has 2 SSD’s in it (one for the system drive, a second in place of the DVD drive for sample libraries). Don’t do the external idea, but upgrade your internal to an SSD and put Reason on there. Depend...

Re: External SSD for running Reason?
It's literally a waste of money if you're doing an external. That said, switching out your internal with an SSD isn't hard at all, usually. You can even image your drive so you don't have to reinstall everything (including your OS). Yep, I'm going to install an internal next week and clone anything...
