Recommend me an audio interface.
It's probably going to be a little while before it becomes critical, but I probably ought to start getting an idea of what's out there in order to not be caught flatfooted when the time comes. In simple terms, my computer system is showing its age, and though I'm not looking forward to the expense o...

Re: Is BigBang Orchestra working with Reason ?
The first thing you'll need to do is find out where on your computer the VST is installed, and then make sure that location is included in the folders that Reason scans to find VSTs. You might also check the "manage plugins" window to see if Reason has found the VST but cannot load it for some reason.

Re: MS-2 synth
I suspect some stupid AV program might be interfering. This is it. **%$**#@! Norton I don't have Norton, but often enough with programs from small devs like this, I get an alert box from "Windows Defender" telling me they've prevented the program from running. Usually, it's simply because the progr...

Strokes sampler/sequencer update 3.9
So, since I bought a Howes tape off Bandcamp, I got a message from the artist, who's apparently also a designer of at least one VST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvLasl_wois Looks a bit interesting in the ways it can arrange rhythms. Also if I hadn't gotten that tape I would not have any idea thi...

Re: AI - Cheating or just evolution?
It's a question of perspective, really. You can go online and buy some construction kits and loops and put together a passable track without ever having to play a single note. Is that cheating? I'd say it isn't particularly creative on the part of the producer, but I'm also sure that it goes on all ...

Re: Anyone got an old iDrum license laying around?
Have you contacted iZotope support yet? They might be able to help you track it down and get it working. That was my first step - no luck. The problem is that about the time I would have had the license I was also doing a lot more to avoid getting put on spam databases, which included using a lot o...

Anyone got an old iDrum license laying around?
I recently found a batch of old Reaper projects I hadn't touched in ages, and come to find out a number of them have instances of Izotope's iDrum - which of course don't load, as they were from a couple computers and OS changes back. Somewhere over the years, I seem to have lost my original license ...

Re: Reason 12 with VST3 Beta has arrived
Ideally when you install plugins you should decide whether you want the VST or VST3, installing both versions is redundant and wastes disk space. If all things were equal, I would have installed only the VST3, in the assumption that those versions would in some way be superior. But I use Reason, wi...

Re: Reason 12 with VST3 Beta has arrived
I don't have the time to properly participate in a beta test, but I admit I am curious to find out how Reason will handle sorting between versions of plugins where both VST2 and VST3 versions are installed.

Re: Europa stock wavetable location?
just wondering if it's possible to access the stock wavetables included in Europa, and if so, where those files are located... Probably not. Generally Reason devices seem to have their data contained in the device itself, or wrapped inside a Refill, and either way not easily accessible if at all. I...

Re: iZotope - Discontinuing Products
I would speculate that dropping something like Trash 2 is either a sign that they're going to focus on their mastering line to the exclusion of creative effects, or they're developing something to replace them. Remember that Iris and BreakTweaker were both also at version 2. Maybe it's time for vers...

The email I got notifying me about it says: "Pocket Dimension is an XY style granular time portal. Travel through time with Sigil based modulation, archaic spatial audio technologies, random fluctuations in the temporal field and a bonus secret parameter."

Re: SugarBytes - Graindad
Far be it for me to tell someone else what to like; that would be dumb. And I might not even notice grains in somebody else's piece if I weren't looking for them and I didn't hear the source sample and know where the result come from. And I might be overthinking; I do that. But for me as a practica...

They've come a long way baby ... sc.jpg Oh, boy, this was one of the very first mega-arguments about REs back in the PUF days. It should be noted that the designs are somewhat based on one of their multi-effects plugins from about the time - Turnado, maybe? I forget off-hand - where in the VST, eac...

Re: SugarBytes - Graindad
I know this is blasphemy, but… I just don't "get" grain-tables, be they effects or instruments or whatever. Well, technically (as I understand it) a "graintable" isn't an effect, it's an instrument's resource, much as a wavetable is. (The Malström synth uses graintables.) Are you more broadly refer...

People don't think that the music on the radio is their music, like people pushing a button to create AI art But you're actually right, AI art is like radio for art, as you are only admiring the result, without actually doing any work There are a couple things to get into here, though: It's not lik...

Re: I really, really should learn how to program synths.
I learned how to use an ARP 2600 in the 80s. Later, when I began publicly releasing "music" in the early 90s, I chucked all that knowledge aside by using a sampler. That's right, cheat! Find a sound that resembles what you want and copy it directly. (Just sort-of kidding. Although it didn't hurt tha...
