Re: I see that native M1 support has been pushed out to some time in 2022
over it! haven't used Reason for anything in over a year. Went to try the RPP yesterday and it just crashed again since I was not in Rosetta mode. What a joke! Asking various vendors for non-Reason versions of these plug-ins. Wish me luck.

Re: Anything can be an impulse response if you are brave enough.
iPhones have been proving to be very good for capturing IR's if measurement mode is turned ON for the built-in microphone. I use AudioShare for the capture, which allows measurement mode to be enabled. This seems to turn the internal compressor off, allowing for a good IR recording of a clap or what...

Windows has become awful and I don't miss gaming builds. I'm real happy with the M1 Mac mini with its silent operation and I greatly prefer macOS for all things.

This should be part of the DAW not a separate app. I've never had any interest in owning any version of this.

Re: About Improving Reason's Internal DAW
Workflow is key. Gadget is next gen. Feature-wise I believe Reason is ancient-level dead, and a total mess, and should learn to compete carefully with the leading DAWs which are Logic and Ableton. I think of a few devs in their own world, clueless, in a small room. Gems like pitch correction in Reas...

Re: Stream audio session from Reason thru Discord
Three ways. The worst is "virtual audio' cables. Better is using two audio interfaces with balanced cables so OBS takes a full DAW signal out of one of the interfaces. But I believe the best way of doing this would be to buy one of the newer interfaces that has "loopback".

Re: waves platinum sale for limited time
The results I get from Logic's stock plug-ins are as good or better than anything else. Like most folks I stopped using Waves products due to the licensing and updating hassle.

Re: Reason on macOS Monterey seems to work
On macOS Monterey with M1 processor Logic and Garageband both fail to the Reason Rack Plug-In unless Rosetta is used. Ableton, on the other hand, loads the Reason Rack plug-in without taking any extra steps. I assume when Ableton's native M1 version comes out the Reason Rack plug-in will suddenly br...

Re: Why R12 has got me a little worried ...
A Reason 12 license came with my Reason 11 upgrade but I haven't bothered to install it. Garageband/Logic, and the occasional Ableton session do all I need so unless there is some weird circumstance I don't really use it much any more. Nobody I know uses it so using the Rack plug-in in a project is ...

Re: How big is the R11 upgrade installation footprint?
also FYI: consider removing all other Reason versions first, then installing 11. I finally took the plunge on 11 via the May Madness deal, and installed it with both v10 and r11 lite also on the system. Removing lite after all this removed the Reason Rack Plug-In, so I had to run the 11 installer a ...

Re: Have Softube raised the price of FET?
Plug-ins are worth about $20, and that includes everything made by Softube. Knowledge with stock plug-ins is all you need for amazing results so most plug-ins are both overpriced and totally unnecessary. This makes even $20 seem expensive.

Re: Reason on Apple M1
thanks turn2on for the interesting angle on latency! Because- I have been happy, I thought, with anything 10ms or less. Once I'm in this range, even on an older Mac with class complaint drivers running, I have not felt the need for lower latency. I love the Apple Class Compliant driver situation so ...

Re: How powerful are reason's stock synths?
The power of the synths in both is based on the user's skills not the synths, as it applies to making music and most everyday purposes. This should not be what swings the decision in my opinion. I would select the DAW that has the look and feel you like most--the one in which you feel most comfortab...

Compression use falls into two main buckets: Traditional/Transparent, and the more modern Using Compression As A Color. I like to think of sidechaining also in two similar "buckets". Two types of sidechaining that should both be mastered: Transparent, and Pumpy. The second flavor, pumpy, became an ...

Re: effect returns...reverb and delay
When using Reason as an actual DAW I don't find myself wanting to use those at all because Reason is so great at letting me be a control freak on the rack itself. I'll make busses and parallel channels all day, or just copy tracks for pure 100% wet effect and mix them in to taste. I get it-- those r...

I go straight into the Audient Id14 with decent mics. The only physical outboard hardware I use are some Radial DI's and the blue Reamp box, with random small amps.

Re: Which CPU would you chose?
based on performance, cost, and totally silent operation I recommend an ARM processor in a fanless build such as a Macbook Air. Building a system with fans seems rather archaic at this point. The new M1 Air is certainly pretty awesome, but in this case that would require the user to buy into Mac's ...

Re: Is Skeuomorphism Reason's Achilles Heel?
Skeuomorphism isn't a problem unless it's accompanied by a distinct lack of necessary anti-Skeuomorphism. I think the most insightful way of understanding this is looking at why Ableton and Logic became the world's 2 leading DAWs. Both of them are beautifully non-Skeuomorphic ... until a Skeuomorphi...
