Reason for not using sequencer = you can hit the run button and continue tweaking the beats without playing back the whole song.
Often times I program drums using only redrum and not playing the whole song back. I've wanted to see 64 buttons since v3.

Explanation needed - echo
I am unable to understand how echo's delay offset (right channel) works (all other parameters set to off), and how that coupled with ping pong (with the knob to either left or right) functions. I do hear the result, but if someone could explain using beats/bars, that would be really help.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Making a gate using only stock devices
Thank you SO much for the reply, Selig (awesome work on the de-esser, btw)! I am only a few days into this whole routing and using-the-CV thing, so I' had to go through your post a couple times, but it makes sense now! Yesterday I was thinking about using thor's routing section at the bottom to some...

Making a gate using only stock devices
Skip to the emboldened word if you don't need the background. Yesterday I made a patch to emulate G8 Gate's Rejected Audio functionality (cmb patch attached). The issue I ran into was not having a stock gate device, and so I used RV7000 for my gating needs (using the reverse algorithm and setting t...

Reason 8.1 & above CPU Stress Test (songfile included)!
Don't think mine counts, but just in case someone else has a similar setup: Windows 7 SP1 , i5 M460, 2.53 GHz, 4GB Ram ASIO4ALL (the latest one as of this post) 44.1k, 1024 buffer size. Nothing else open (ended all other processes), reason only. Song goes to... wait for it... 1.1.2.127 (beats and ba...

Remember 'Dave' from Boyinaband?
You never have to use Pythagoras's theorem, until you do, then you're glad you remembered. The same goes for speakers, mics and dealing with electromagnetic energy in a transducer. If you've ever fixed or modified a mic or speaker, you're dealing with Einstein's theory of relativity. Sorry for bum...

Summer Project: Powering passive monitors with computer power supply and car amp
Not sure if anyone will ever need to do this, but someone donated their passive 10-12 year old Made-in-USA JBLs to me (JBL 4208s), and it was without a poweramp. Never having had studio monitors before, I did not know how to get them to work (they had each a black and red banana plug at the back), ...

Reason Radio
I've been getting emails, so thank you all! FGL, I really appreciate you letting me have a free run, but I am finding it a bit too time consuming going through so many soundcloud channels and the myriad songs on each channel. If you could give me a list of your favorite 5-10 songs, I'll go ahead and...

Where are the audio files recorded within reason saved?
If I don't self contain a song, and say I record something (audio) directly into reason, where exactly does that file get saved? (Reason 8.2 specifically).
I can't find it in program data, and I can't find it in the C:/prog files folder either.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Common Mixing Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
I was reading each point and going either, "ah, that's me!" or "ah, that used to be me!"
Amazing lists, and I think this is one of THE most important ones: mixing without direction. Unless you are trying to be really creative, having a direction works wonders in saving time and meeting deadlines!

Question about guitars
Using just stock sounds, have you ever tried to put an arp/melody guitar in a song to good effect? I usually take the clean or jazz electric guitar in NNXT, process it a bit to make it sound electric, and then add an acoustic guitar for the higher notes, which seems to get me as close to a real guit...

Just need some feedback on the mix
First of all, thank you so, sooo much! All points duly noted, and here's the final version (I was under deadline pressure, so can't change this anymore -- I think the "aaa" at some points is particularly loud, but I'm happy otherwise with how it sounds overall on my cans). I'll check this tomorrow o...

Just need some feedback on the mix
I'm doing this mix on some headphones (cheap ones from walmart), and of course, it doesn't translate well to my car speakers (and a couple other systems). I'd really appreciate it if some of you could listen to it on your monitors and tell me what seems wrong. Also, any tips on vocals would be great...

I thought reason 8/8.1 was backward compatible with anything that went up to reason 6.5?
