Re: need Help with High CPU usage
DasInsekt, what sample rate are you on? This is one of the key things to free up DSP, so I'm surprised no one's mentioned it. Anytime you're running out of processing power, you should really switch over to 44.1 (or just always use it to begin with). When exporting, of course, you can (and generall...

Re: RE: Re: Ambient generator
What's the name of the program you use and is it free or a paid application? http://www.paulnasca.com/open-source-projects It's available from that link. It's free  Another great app (although not free) is Photosounder. Turns images into sound, and vice versa. But where it gets really in...

Re: Ambient generator
Paulstretch is awesome! I don't understand how it preserves the quality of a 3 second clip stretched to 2h :) The program I have lets you stretch a 3 second audio clip to be something like 10 billion years long. Not sure how much hard drive space or time to render you'd need to accommodate a wav fi...

Re: need Help with High CPU usage
2048 samples is quite low tbf. On most of my near completed projects I'm on 4096 and this on a mid-2015 macbook pro. Not entirely sure if an external sound card would allow you to raise the sample rate, but it would be worth looking into. That or just buying a higher-performance machine. It's shit w...

Re: Ambient generator
I'd also like to suggest you already have one awesome "ambient" idea/tool at your fingertips - the time stretch! Reason's time stretch isn't the best imo. If you guys haven't heard of it already, look into "Paulstretch". It's available on Audacity (a program I hate so I won't recommend), and theres...

Re: MacBook Pro 2016 15
IIRC TheoM did extensive tests on mac book pro performance and concluded that something in the OS causes Reason to lag. When you install Windows on it, it'll be as powerful as it should be... I actually have the opposite experience of this. Maybe 4 years ago, Reason 6 ran horribly on my windows 7 g...

High pass filters RE?
Any recommendations? It annoys me that the ECF doesn't have a high pass mode. I know I can use Thor as an effects unit, though that can be cumbersome, and I also use Synpase's analog filter sometimes, though i find that can alter the sound a lot which is not always desirable. I just want something t...

I'm quite surprised he's willing to do something like this. At his level, what he knows is a trade secret. Though maybe he's on such a level now that it doesn't matter what he teaches other people. Very nice of him to share in any case.

Re: Paralell Compression on Electronic Drums
Maybe you're using compression for the wrong reasons? Compression, whether parallel or not, is a tool that should only be used for something specific, namely, taming dynamics. Maybe your kick sample just doesn't need compression of any kind? Always ask yourself why you're compressing. If it's just t...

Re: Windows 10 disaster...need to vent...
Anyway, a colleague at work sent me a link to some satirical news website today and I was just reading this before I saw this thread! It made me chuckle: http://newsthump.com/2016/10/20/windows-installs-update-at-convenient-time/ "'This is clearly unacceptable, and we’ve already started an investig...

Re: Windows 10 disaster...need to vent...
If you think Mac is the answer, it's not any better. I get emails from DAW developers warning not to install the latest OS. The evolving OS was an Apple idea. Windows use to have a service pack update and on to the next version. I have W10 Pro. You can defer updates and my restarts for updates are ...

How useful is Facebook for page promotion?
Hey guys, just wondering what people think to Facebook as a promotion medium these days, especially for artists. The "pay to promote" feature really pisses me off. I can understand why Facebook do it, and if I ran a social networking site with billions of users and an obscenely large market I probab...

Re: Windows 10 disaster...need to vent...
Had this the other day on my gaming rig. Was in the middle of a firefight on Red Orchestra 2 and the next minute it's gone. It's really irritating and rather intrusive. Read an article recently about how Cortana tracks all of your searches and sends them direct to Microsoft so it's not the only dick...

There is a certain irony in posting here. It is music-related, but it is not part of the creative process. Life is part of the creative process. I get awesome tune ideas when I'm in the shower, making dinner, or laying in bed falling asleep more often than when I'm sat on my laptop with Reason open...

Went with 6s 128Gb. I like the jack. :D Any of the 6 models are great man. Had a go on my mate's iPhone 7 the other day and coming from a plain old iPhone 6 I really didn't notice that much difference. It looks flashier and it's a bit faster but that's about it for me. I have never murdered a phone...

Re: Ultimate Synth for making glitch sounds ??
I find Malstrom to be pretty good for that kind of thing tbf. A lot of its waveforms are catered towards FX-like sounds and with a bit of tweaking you can make a lot of variety.
