Re: The mysterious obsession with virtual channel strips
I too am baffled by the sheer unending quantity of channel strip plugins. Clearly, people fetishise them. ... Its the same with Tape Machines. I always hated it when my cassette recorder played back a broken tape which sounded like a wobbling clown and all that noise after the 3rd copy... but today...

Re: The mysterious obsession with virtual channel strips
Coming from hardware, channel strips make sense to me because we either use a console for everything or outboard “channel strips” from vintage console for a large part of everything, exceptions being few (Pultec EQ, 1176 & LA-2a compressors). When I moved to ITB starting in the late 1990s there wer...

Re: The mysterious obsession with virtual channel strips
yeah, you mean the API style knobs? I bought one of those emulations from Waves and it sounds great but I never use it because that knob functionality just doesn’t feel right to me for some reason. I went with the 4000 E, because I want to say it’s the same model the curves in Reason’s channel stri...

Re: The mysterious obsession with virtual channel strips
I came at it from the opposite direction. I never understood the appeal considering how much more flexible it is to be able to just add devices/plugins as needed, in whatever order you like. the problem there, for me, was that with so many choices for this EQ or that compressor, I was basically jus...

The mysterious obsession with virtual channel strips
I have somehow managed to buy several reputable channel strip plugins over the years and ultimately never use them, instead opting for more flexible individual EQs, compressors and saturators. Considering the deluge of new rehashes of SSL, Neve, API etc... strips year after year, clearly people must...

Re: Reason 12 has arrived
It makes perfect sense that the majority of music hobbyists would be on PC. They’re more widely available at all price points so the barrier to entry is lower. With working professionals I suspect that ratio flips the other way. It’s an important market for audio developers and why you’ll see them b...

Re: Auto-generate VST thumbnail on launch
Those are certainly valid points, but VSTs need to be scanned anyway before they can be used in Reason and it would be nice if there was an option to have it generate a UI thumbnail during that process. I've always found the ocean of blank placeholders a bit clunky. Stuff like this shouldn't feel te...

Re: I have to switch to studio headphones, help me pls
The Beyerdynamics don't require much power at all, despite their ohm ratings. Both my laptop's 3.5mm output and even my phone have no trouble driving my DT-770 and DT-990 to loudness levels beyond my tolerance.

Re: Reason Studios Appreciation Thread [R12 edition]
They've no doubt been working very hard on massive under-the-hood improvements to the lay the groundwork for future evolution. Most will probably agree that we still have some ways to go, but I think they're on the right track and this is why I felt good about upgrading. Even though I'm not subscrib...

Re: Is your online behavior and the way you interact with other people different to your behavior in real life?
I try to be as sincere online as I am in person, but I think the biggest weakness in my writing "voice" is the almost total lack of moment to moment humor. I tend to enthusiastically smile and laugh at myself a bit while talking in person which leads to most of my opinions coming across far more dip...

Re: Reason 12 has arrived
I’m assuming based on lots of earlier comments that R12 is not automatically refreshing currently downloaded assets with high-res replacements? Is this supposed to happen eventually and we’re just not seeing it yet because of launch-day server slowness?

Re: Reason 12 has arrived
Congrats RS on the new release. I upgraded as always, partly because I want you and Reason to continue to thrive and also for the awesome combinator upgrade and high-res scaling. I’m sure there was a ton of other stuff under the hood that we can’t see which took a lot of work to modernize, but now t...

Re: IK Multimedia 25th Anniversary Group Buy - Get up to 25 products for the price of 1!
I just can't get enthusiastic about IKM's products like T-Racks, regardless of how good of a deal it is, because of the sheer quantity of plugins (whether I own them or not) that gets dumped onto my system. Every time I've tried it I always end up uninstalling in favor of leaner, less bloated altern...

Re: Reason 12 in 3 days. Excited ?
I’m mildly excited. The zoom feature alone is something I’ve been wanting for years. I just wish we could zoom the rack independent of the browser and transport bar. I’m very much looking forward to Combinator v2.

Re: Reason 12 in 5 days. Excited ?
I'll be upgrading, per usual, but as someone who does prefer to work exclusively inside Reason vs the rack in another DAW I do wonder if the mixer and sequencer will ever see much attention again beyond minor maintenance. I understand why RS is focusing most of their energy on the rack, from a busin...

Re: JJ Abrams: Lack of plan in Star Wars’ latest trilogy was a “critical” flaw
Let's not talk about Han. I'm still very salty about that. What an absolute waste of a character. Let's talk about Rey. You can sit on a barren rock starving and dying of thirst for 20 odd years then pick up a lightsaber and you're a Jedi master. What a load of old tosh. Love how they totally margi...

Re: Any news of native Mac M1 version of Reason?
No one knows, but I think we can safely assume it'll be either Reason 12 at launch or as a 12.x update later in the year. Thanks. I hope they make the current version native. Don’t really want to upgrade. It would be nice, but I seriously doubt it’ll come to any version before R12. The timing seems...

Re: JJ Abrams: Lack of plan in Star Wars’ latest trilogy was a “critical” flaw
Utter shite all of them. What they did to Luke was a travesty but as long as those woke utopia boxes are ticked that’s all that matters. Rogue One was the only modern Star Wars movie that was any good. Luke was the only character in this entire trilogy to have a consistent, meaningful, heartfelt ch...

Re: JJ Abrams: Lack of plan in Star Wars’ latest trilogy was a “critical” flaw
It's sad the way they ruined the Star Wars franchise. They should have just left the original trilogy alone, instead of whoring it out the way they did. Return of the Jedi was kind of a jump the shark sort of movie, so they were already headed in a bad direction way back then. Return/Jedi just didn...

It seems as yet there's no Apple Silicon support, and I can't find an estimate for when it might arrive. I known Reason doesn't yet have an Apple Silicon build either, but it's still difficult to get my head around spending money on Intel software. It shouldn't take too long. Considering the releas...
