True, if you take code that's using doubles, and just change them to floats, you can break the filter. But it is also possible to make a few other small changes to keep the errors due to the loss of precision from piling up.avasopht wrote:Some filter designs are unstable with 32-bit precision.

dsp solution for reason
There is also the latest i5, 4 cores and no Hypertreading, but that's not something Reason uses afaik. A lot cheaper so you can get a cpu + motherboard for the same price as the i7 While Reason won't schedule audio rendering on the Hyperthread cores, the GUI and everything else going on in Windows ...

Do that many developers really write their DSP routines to use 64-bit math? That's incredibly wasteful, even without Uhe's saying so, all the audio handling code I write has used 32-bit floats, instead of needlessly promoting it to 64-bit. Also SSE2 and later can do vector processing on double preci...

dsp solution for reason
Yeah I had one of them intel chips two years ago but it blew up on me! I find the fx is much more powerful than that one anyways. I thought my dual Six Core Opterons (12 cores total) were powerful. It seemed like they could do a lot of stuff in Reason. But their motherboard failed, and I didn't hav...

Post your earliest PUF post.
My first post on 2012-07-10, 19:05 was to point out that there are already multi-channel interfaces to someone wanting a more than stereo Balance, and then next making a joke about it looking like a Louboutin.

Question: Merging Audio Clips
A clip is unused if no parts of it are active in the comp editor. If you have an audio track that's the entire length of the song, and cut it in half, and then record a new half. The original clip is still half used, while you can delete it from the new recording it will still take up the full space...

Question: Merging Audio Clips
It's under the right-click menu of the clip, but only shows up if there are indeed unused recordings.

ScuzzyEye YouTube Channel
I've recently started a YouTube channel: ScuzzyEye . Part of the content will be instructional videos demonstrating how things work, or how perform particular tasks. The first two (and many to follow) feature Reason. The first one is about how to keep audio at the highest bit depth possible when wor...

"It's Never Going to Happen"
I tested pretty much every possible mode! :D This only works if you have an Ignition Key or Balance. If you're using a soft key stored on the computer, and/or online authorization, you won't be able to run on a new computer if the Props' server goes away. People who purchase Reason as a digital dow...

Finally got a capital Y
You know what Jubilee, when I first created a chat pseudonym when I first got online decades ago, I had the name "Alas Poor Yorick" but everyone called me "Alas" (O_o) So Yorick I became. Back in the BBS days (it was running MajorBBS software), I was "The Pumpkin King", but had the short handle "Ja...

Hello there.
I need to load up my avatar, and have a look around, but I've just been editing a video for the last two hours (I need to better organize my thoughts before I start talking). So I'm just going to plop down here on the couch, and catch a quick nap.
