Hey guys,

I got my new pc with a 4 cores i5 3570K as cpu and after few sessions with Reason i notice that it never use the 4 cores but only 3 and one stay always at idle and this even with the "use all cores" option enabled. So is Reason limited to 3 cores only ?

Definitely Not !

One Core is reserved for the OS, i think..

Ok make sense, too bad because my os seems to not use it that much, it's always at near 0% of usage. Reason could make a better usage of that idle core damn it ! :puf_bigsmile:

As devilfish said, yes - Reason does in fact use all logical cores. It's just that one is reserved for GUI/UX (which doesn't take that much CPU anyway) as well as OS operations. Fun fact: Reason also supports Hyperthreading, so if you had an i7 that had virtual cores, Reason would utilize those for disc i/o, high quality stretch and resample, and many other operations that don't include audio DSP (which is reserved for logical cores only).

It should be enabled by default, but check Reason's Preferences. There's a checkbox for the "use multicore" option.
