Hey there, I was wondering how I can configure so that I can achieve parallel compression on an instrument, let's say, a lead synth? I heard this is a crucial technique to enhance your songs so of course I'm willing to learn the right way to do it.

I tried following tutorials for myself, but I kept on getting stuck at a step because the version used in the tutorials were outdated.

Hi. Parallel compression is super easy to achieve in Reason! Just right click on the mix channel and select create parallel channel. Now a mix channel is created without any of the processing you might have applied to the original mix channel. Now you can compress, EQ or process the parallel signal in any way you want. Oh and btw you can daisy chain as many parallel channels as your CPU can handle.
Typically you would apply quite radical settings to the parallel channel and then adjust the level to taste. I tend to achieve better results with lower levels on the parallel channels, but YMMV of course.
Cheers!

You can NEARLY do everything... Keep an eye on PDC to prevent phasing. Read the chapter in tge Reason doc how and when PDC works.

The dcam chancomp has a wet/dry out...works great, uses only one channel that way.

I don't like creating a parallel mix channel just to do parallel compression.

The DCAM compressor method works. Although I do it with a audio splitter/merger and Mclass Compressor.

If you use a splitter, you may have phasing depending on the latency of the compressor.

Does Mclass Compressor induce latency?
