Re: Latency requires breakout box audio card?
Get one of the new Focusrite boxes, they are around $150,= for a 4th generation one. I have a third generation Scarlett, a 18i20 and it runs @ 64 samples, with ultra low latency. This is good for playing instruments with keyboards etc. With your laptop specs and a good audio interface it will run sm...

Re: How many delay pedals does a guitarist need?
That fabulous echo was on 2112 - Overture? Temple of Syrinx? I think so... Sorry, I read all posts, but could not found out which Echo/Delay was used on 2112..... One of my favorite albums by Rush, and surely the first album I heard by Rush. That era was beautiful for Rush albums, and from the late...

Re: Does age matter?
Age certainly makes a difference if you make music with other people. Between the ages of 15 and 34ish I was in one band or another, or sometimes more than one at a time. Once you hit 30 it's much harder to sustain this, because most people of your own age have buggered off and got themselves jobs,...

Re: Does age matter?
I'm approaching the 59 this winter, and still feel young. Especially at mind, my body tells me once in a while when I wake up that 58 is 58.....LOL.
Still making music, enjoying it. Also still riding my Yamaha XJR 1200 Motorbike and having fun!!!

Re: Suggestions for convolution / IR loader pedal?
I tried the software version, and I must say, I’m impressed.
We come from far, and it is getter better every year. Once I had a Line6 POD, and at that time it was magnificent, if you hear them now compared to the tonex and it’s companions……

https://mediadl.musictribe.com/download/documents/tcelectronic/hall-of-fame-2-reverb-manual-rev-4.pdf This is the manual for the HOF 2. It can do so much more then just reverb sounds, it has a mash function which you can asign to many things, as you wish. I do not have stock in TC, but really can r...

Re: Suggestions for convolution / IR loader pedal?
Do you have a specific reverb in mind where you want to use it for? I have the TC Hall Of Fame, and it covers the most reverbs out there. With the app you can then adjust up to 3 presets of your own in the Toneprint slots. Maybe I do not understand what your needs are, or maybe you want to take a re...

Re: anyone using old systems ? or laptops
I use an old system with an i7-7700 (4GHz) Intel and 16GB of RAM. It runs well and stable, but I think it is at the end of it's lifespan soon, as with this CPU you cannot upgrade to Windows 11. As soon as Windows 10 is obsolete and not maintained by Microsoft anymore, it is time to switch towards a ...

I’m a hobbyist too. I did study audio engineering at the SAE collage in Amsterdam. Financial, I’m ok, do not have to live from my music. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. That makes me happy. Nowadays I’m into reggae music. I make music for 40 years, started as bassplayer in Heavy Metal ban...

Re: It was 20 years ago today…
20 years ago I ran Cubase 5 VST, with a Creamware XTC card for synths and FX's. It was difficult to keep it up and running, and eventually swapped it for a digital Roland mixer to provide 8 more input channels for my Roland VS-2480CD 24 track workstation/recorder. I used the VS2480CD with a Yamaha R...

Re: Suggest a small midi keyboard
I have an Akai LPK25 Wireless. I had to look out for it, as they do not make them anymore at the time I wanted one. Happily I found one. It's connected with USB to my PC, for syncing reasons of the arpeggiator, and I use it wireless with my iPad 9th gen to run music software. It is a nice keyboard, ...
