ah, right, that makes sense.PhillipOrdonez wrote: β22 Feb 2021It does. But the midi track handles the track for one channel too. So you need 9 additional tracks.
I have done the unthinkable: I bought Ableton Live Lite

Ouch, even 16 sounds very limited to me. Can't imagine having only 8 tracksstp2015 wrote: β22 Feb 2021Lite has 8 tracks (+ 2 send returns + one master track)PhillipOrdonez wrote: β22 Feb 2021
No idea how many tracks does lite have available. If it has 10 tracks, then yes, you can have all the tracks available in lite, it would be one midi tracks and 9 audio tracks...
Intro has 16 tracks (+ 2 send returns + one master track)

Meh, I passed. Not in the mood to commit to Live 11 Standard just yet, though $295 was tempting. Maybe if they have a flash sale I'll pick it up 11 in the future (and by that time the point releases will have addressed the inevitable bugs that'll appear now that 11 proper has launched today).EnochLight wrote: β22 Feb 2021I got Live Lite 10 for free with my MPC Live 2. Right now I can upgrade to Live 10 Standard (and get 11 Standard free) for $295 USD. It's really tempting, for sure. That offer ends tonight though.
Decisions, decisions...
I'll admit: Live is becoming more and more attractive as an option as the years go on. Reason 12 better knock it out of the park or my entire workflow may be changing.
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Β Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD
Yeah, 8 is definitely very little, just enough to get you hookedPhillipOrdonez wrote: β22 Feb 2021Ouch, even 16 sounds very limited to me. Can't imagine having only 8 tracks
I think 16 is sufficient for me at this point. Drum racks let you put separate inserts and send levels on each sound, and you can do a lot of separate processing within the RRP before feeding a mix to a single track in Live.

True, you can get away with a lot on one track with drum rack and the RRP. I would feel limited though because I wouldn't be able to process the mix properly with vst and would have to rely heavily on Res for that which I don't normally do. But it is definitely doable! Actually, even with just 8 tracks, if you consider the entire drum bus on one track with drum rack, one RRP with the bass bus, another RRP with the instruments bus and one for vocals and another for fxs. That's just 5 tracks on live... Hmmmstp2015 wrote: β23 Feb 2021Yeah, 8 is definitely very little, just enough to get you hookedPhillipOrdonez wrote: β22 Feb 2021

Sounds like a fun challenge
Let's see how far I will get with the 16 tracks.
It seems quite likely right now that I will get the Reason 12 update, maybe one or two more players on sale, and then I will call probably it quits for now. Of course, I might buy back in at Reason 14 or 15, you never know

It is only quitting if you sell your license... Using whatever version of Reason you currently have, buying a few players and skipping some upgrades... If you call that "calling it quits"... We've all quit Reason years agostp2015 wrote: β23 Feb 2021Let's see how far I will get with the 16 tracks.

This Live 11 Intro upgrade got me some nice additions. 16 scenes, 16 macro knobs, macro randomisations and presets. I'm happy and have no need of Standard or Suite
