Did you catch these sneak peeks during our live stream?

If you had the opportunity to tune in during the live stream voting event (to decide the winners of our winter competition), you got to hear some fantastic music, meet some of the judges, and share in the suspense as they made incredibly tough decisions in placing their votes. Not only was there excitement in deciding the winners, there was excitement in the air of new products to come.

We were given some exclusive sneak peeks of some upcoming Rack Extensions! And it was fun getting to experience this together live. We thought we would take the opportunity to recap on these parts of the stream. Watch the full stream here.

Something new, just in time for Selig Audio’s 5-year anniversary

Giles Reaves (Selig) was the first judge to join us, and right off the bat we had a teaser in which to speculate. With a “surprise” from Selig Audio listed amongst the prizes at the launch of the competition, many of us figured there must be something new on the way. While he couldn’t share much with us, we do know now that it is “due any time now,” and it will be the first Selig product to load patches, but it’s not a synthesizer. We do have this lovely, blurry image to gander. What could it be?

Mathieu Demange updates RYM2612 and shows us his next plugin

Later in the stream, we were joined by Mathieu Demange who had a couple things to show us. First is a free update to the RYM2612, an incredibly accurate emulation of the Yamaha YM2612 soundchip, best known for being the vibrant voice of the Sega Genesis/Megadrive videogame console. Version 1.0.5 will add a couple CV inputs on back panel, brings lots of new sounds and Combinator patches, and fixes a small issue.

Talking about Reason is fun! (Kenni above, Mathieu below).

Mathieu also showed us his upcoming effect plugin, the RX950. It’s an effect that emulates the magic color and warmth that the iconic Akai S950 sampler added to sounds. He first teased us about this back when we interviewed him about RYM2612 and RYMCast. It will be available as a RE, VST, and AU when it is released. We can’t wait to hear this!

Hope you enjoyed it! We’re looking forward to the next competition and streaming event!
